Hi, I’m Haley Garelli - a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
I help women who are drained, discouraged and just plain fed up with their constant “dieting” to lose weight and be comfortable in their own skin. I help them discover what works best for them as an individual, because no woman is the same. So why should their diets be? I believe it is possible to be free from counting calories or constantly thinking about what you will eat next, while still reaching your weight loss goals. I know there is so much information available at the click of a button, so I want to help you sift through it and make sense of it all.
Why? Because I’ve been there. I have tirelessly counted calories, deprived myself of a tasty treat, sacrificed sleep for exercise and have run myself into the ground. All because I thought it was what I had to do to reach my health and aesthetic goals. I grew up as a dancer, spending hours in front of the mirror judging myself. This led to the desire to lose weight and have the perfect “ballet body”. So, I started a diet, and another and another. This led to restrictive eating for years, which actually caused me to have hormonal imbalances leading to even more weight gain. I sought out help from several health care professionals, all to be told to again “eat less and move more”. Unfortunately, this is what had gotten me to this point in the first place so why wasn’t it working? After several years of counting calories and excessive exercise I was frustrated that I wasn’t seeing results, despite how disciplined I was being. Eventually I started to question this mentality that maybe restricting even more wasn’t the answer to finally losing the extra weight I had gained. Through my experience, I have learned that losing weight isn’t always about restricting yourself or pushing yourself harder.
After years of researching and hard work on my mindset I know now I don't have to do all that. In fact, I’m healthier now that I’m not restricting! I was doing more harm than good. I no longer meticulously count calories, I no longer feel deprived, I will eat the treat if I want; I prioritize sleep and still manage to fit movement into my day. Because of this I am now happier, healthier and more comfortable in my own skin.
It is important to be balanced and listen to your body, which can be hard in our go, go, go society. Through my one-on-one coaching program, I support you through your journey on finding what works best for your body. In our work together we dig into your health and weight history to uncover any potential hormone imbalances that may be holding you back from reaching your health goals. With my functional approach to nutrition I look at the big picture, not just the foods on your plate. So we can determine what adjustments you can confidently make to fuel your weight loss, free from guilt, shame or restriction.
My struggle with weight, hormone imbalance, restrictive eating and poor body image are all too common in women. I want to share what I have learned and what I continue to learn to help women find balance in their life, peace with food, enjoyment in movement and to be comfortable in their own skin. I want to help you take control of your life and health!
